Around 15,000 wild red deer are culled every year in Switzerland as part of responsible wildlife management. While the meat is used, the hides are often discarded or burned.<\/p>\n

Biologist Conny Thiel-Egenter and chemist Kadri Vunder Fontana believed this was a waste of a valuable natural resource. In 2017 they founded Cervo Volante to transform these hides into high-quality deer leather and long-lasting products.<\/p>\n

Since autumn 2017, hides have been collected from hunters and local butchers and processed into natural leather using carefully developed tanning methods that minimise chemicals and environmental impact.<\/p>\n
