Cervo Volante transforms Swiss deer hides – a by-product of regulated hunting – into durable products that honour nature, material and craftsmanship.
Where It Began
Around 15,000 wild red deer are culled every year in Switzerland as part of responsible wildlife management. While the meat is used, the hides are often discarded or burned.
Biologist Conny Thiel-Egenter and chemist Kadri Vunder Fontana believed this was a waste of a valuable natural resource. In 2017 they founded Cervo Volante to transform these hides into high-quality deer leather and long-lasting products.
Since autumn 2017, hides have been collected from hunters and local butchers and processed into natural leather using carefully developed tanning methods that minimise chemicals and environmental impact.

Unique Craftsmanship
Production takes place in Switzerland and neighbouring European workshops. By keeping supply chains short, Cervo Volante reduces transport distances and supports regional craftsmanship.
