The most sustainable leather sneakers

The most sustainable leather sneakers

No plastic, screaming colours, chewing gum soles - the sneaker by Cervo Volante convinces with an all-natural approach, good taste - and a good conscience!

Uetliberg, Albis and Sargans are the names of the new sneakers by Cervo Volante. Red deer have left their tracks in these places after which our shoes were named.

Sporty shoe with Italianità

The deer leather sneaker is so flattering on the feet and perfectly formed in its simplicity that it easily outshines other shoes when it comes to everyday wear. The modest number one among shoe models impresses with its sportiness and class. And: it is nothing less than the most environmentally friendly leather sneaker on the market! Casual with style. Light, flexible and comfortable.

The world's most sustainable leather from the Swiss wilderness

Cervo Volante shoes are made of one of the most sustainable leathers in the world from Switzerland: purely vegetable tanned, handmade with European acorn fruits in a traditional Bernese tannery, without heavy metals, without chemical pre-tanning, without synthetic dyes. Wild beauty from nature.

UETLIBERG and ALBIS for him SARGANS for her

The Uetliberg men’s high-top sneaker takes its name from Zurich’s local mountain. Red deer not only roar in Graubünden and Valais, but – the city dweller is amazed – have also been roaring on the Uetliberg for some time now! Only the wearers of the Uetliberg high-top sneaker know about the wild luck of their existence near the city…

The men’s model of the Cervo Volante sneaker is called Albis. The range of hills on the outskirts of Zurich may not be an imposing mountain peak, but it is home to wonderful flora and fauna. The red deer native to the area once migrated from eastern and central Switzerland over Zurich’s Albis to the Mitteland. Only the wearers of the Sneaker Albis know about the wild happiness of their existence near the city…

The women’s model bears the name Sargans. The small town and region in the canton of St. Gallen can confidently be called a “transport hub for deer”. Every evening in winter, droves of red deer migrate from the snow-covered slopes into the already green valley. If they cross some roads, of course, the cars have to wait.

Traceability

Every step in the production of a piece of Cervo Volante leather is traceable. Each hide has an identification of the butchery that collected the hide. The subsequent tanning processes are documented by batch numbers.

Features of the Cervo Volante leather

The skin of wild red deer is often marked with characteristic features due to their natural living conditions. These are created in the course of life by wounds during rutting fights, scratch wounds from thorns, insect bites and at the end of life by the shot hole and the transfer of the animal from a wild valley or mountain to the butcher’s shop. The surfaces of Cervo Volante’s leather are untreated and natural. They are therefore chemical-free, breathable and hypoallergenic.

Women power: We do leather differently

Cervo Volante deerskin has its origins in nature and in Switzerland. Every year, over 15,000 wild red deer are shot to regulate the population. The deer meat is used, but the skin is disposed of. Cervo Volante saves these valuable by-products from incineration to produce natural, vegetable-tanned leather, shoes and accessories.
Sustainable beauty from the wilds of Switzerland.
